Iron Man 3 is a 2013 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to 2008's Iron Man and 2010's Iron Man 2, and the seventh film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Shane Black, written by Drew Pearce and Black, and stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Ben Kingsley. In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark confronts an enemy known as the Mandarin, who destroys Stark's Malibu mansion and threatens to unleash a series of terrorist attacks on the United States.
Story
The film begins with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) at the Stark Expo, showcasing his latest creation, the Iron Legion, a fleet of remote-controlled Iron Man suits. However, the demonstration is interrupted by an attack from Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), a scientist who has developed a new genetic technology called Extremis. Killian and his Extremis-enhanced soldiers destroy the Iron Legion and kidnap Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).
Stark is forced to go into hiding and begins to investigate Killian's Extremis technology. He discovers that Killian is planning to use Extremis to create an army of super-soldiers. Stark also learns that Killian is the Mandarin, a terrorist leader who has been targeting Stark Industries.
With the help of his friend, James Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Stark tracks down Killian's hideout and confronts him. Stark is defeated by Killian, but he is rescued by Pepper, who has been enhanced with Extremis. Together, Stark and Pepper defeat Killian and his Extremis soldiers.
